NCC scenic parkways – 90 kilometres of them – run through the Capital, following the waterways from east to west and penetrating deep into Gatineau Park to the north and the Greenbelt to the south. These are not just roads. They are scenic gateways into a Capital experience. They link city and country and put people in touch with the Canadian landscape.

As well as parkways, the NCC offers a parallel network of recreational pathways designed for walking, hiking, cycling and in-line skating. Some 170 kilometres of pathway wind from one end of the region to the other. From the wilds of Gatineau Park in the north down into the heart of the Greenbelt, the pathways offer you fresh air, exercise and intimate access to the Capital landscape. This system also links the Capital, through the 15,000-kilometre Trans Canada Trail, to the whole of Canada.
