(9/24/01, 7 a.m. ET) -- Britney Spears's third Jive Records album, Britney, will be released worldwide on November 6. Spears co-wrote five of the 12 tracks on the album, and other writers and producers on the album include Max Martin, *NSYNC singer Justin Timberlake, Wade Robson (Spears's choreographer), Rami, and Rodney Jerkins.
The first single from the set, "I'm A Slave 4 U," was written and produced by the Neptunes, and will impact pop radio today (September 24). The music video for the track was directed by Frances Lawrence (Backstreet Boys, Destiny's Child). The tracklisting for Britney includes: "I'm A Slave 4 U," "Overprotected," "Lonely," "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman," "Boys," "Anticipating," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "Cinderella," "Let Me Be," "Bombastic Love," "That's Where You Take Me," and "What It's Like To Be Me."
The North American leg of Spears's world tour kicks off in Miami on October 26, with Pepsi as the sponsor--Spears has appeared in an ongoing series of commercials for the soft drink company. Tickets for the first seven shows of the tour went on sale on Saturday (September 22).
Spears's upcoming television appearances include performances on NBC's The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (October 11), ABC's The Rosie O'Donnel Show (November 5), CBS's The Late Show With David Letterman (November 6), and HBO's Live From Las Vegas (November 18).
In related news, Spears and Timberlake will reportedly not be participating in the Michael Jackson-organized charity recording of "What More Can I Give," as was initially announced. The effort will benefit the families of the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America. However, Spears will donate $1.00 per ticket sold from the North American leg of her upcoming tour to the children of the New York City police and firefighters lost in the World Trade Center attack.
Spears is also one of the many stars singing on the new recording of the Marvin Gaye classic, "What's Going On." Fifty percent of the proceeds from the single will go to the AIDS relief effort, and 50 percent will go to the United Way's September 11th Fund. The "What's Going On" single, featuring five different mixes of the song, is now due out October 23.
