Radicalism: The New Heterodoxy

The General Beliefs of Preterists
"I cannot fault the general heading of preterism.. just because a few have chosen to follow a rabbit trail leading to one of these beliefs with which I disagree. For example, I
strongly disagree with any belief that teaches that none of the NT blessings of eternal life are applicable today. But that doesn't mean it is a result of preterism." (The General Beliefs of Preterists)

The Timing and Nature of Regeneration - "It is of grave importance that we come to agreement on the issue of regeneration as it pertains to a preteristic view of reformation soteriology. In the process, however, we must be extremely cautious to not align ourselves with any freewill/works gospel. On the other hand there is a danger in believing every aspect of traditional reformed soteriology."
Radicalism: The New Heterodoxy
- "The ecumenical movement in the United States is gaining more and more popularity, as the driving urge of professing Christendom is to unify. Though it may seem harmless, the effects of unification with those under the humanistic doctrines of Arminianism and/or baptismal regeneration are compromise and the perversion of the Gospel."
The Husband Who Draws His Wife
- "So often this verse is improperly applied to refer to the imagined "natural" response to the love of God. But the verse is much more forceful. We love Him because He first loved us. This is not a possibility, this is certainty. The promise is sure. Those whom God loves will love God because God first loved them."
The Sovereignty of God
- "God is sovereign over rulers and kings. He removes and sets up those in authority. Daniel 2:21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding."
One Gospel
- "One of the true tests of Christianity is what people do when confronted with an essential like salvation by grace. Most of us believe that doctrines such as, the Deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, the resurrection of Christ, etc are essential. However, when it come to salvation by grace alone (sola gratia) many lose their convictions on what is essential."
Two Crosses
- "I think that in my own theological journey the one doctrine that has received antagonism is supralapsarianism. Many "reformers" have even shunned the thought of a God who is actively, yes actively sovereign over sin as well as righteousness."
The Death of Christ
- "I would like to show the real danger of assuming that every always means each and every everywhere. What we will ultimately end up finding is the doctrine of a universal salvation which the scripture clearly denies."
The Election and Predestination of the Believer
- " For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
The Eternal Salvation of the Believer
- "STATEMENTS AND PROMISES OF GOD THAT WOULD BE NULLIFIED IF ONE COULD LOSE THEIR SALVATION."
Four Options for Time-Frame References Given by Christ and Apostles
"This evening I had a brief discussion with a very good friend of mine who is Roman Catholic. During this time Rome has in its liturgy thematic material concerning the advent and second coming. He knows what I believe and asked me what I thought about resurrection, the body and so forth. They are all valid and important questions. However, I urged him to consider the weightier issue of the integrity of Christ, the Apostles, and Scripture and try to set aside certain presuppositions dealing with the cosmos, entropy etc.
Ultimately, I asked him to consider what I believe are the only four options when considering the time-frame references given by Christ and the apostles. These options are:
1. Christ and the apostles said the time was near in order to keep the readers reading for the second coming, thus promoting a lie, thus causing their integrity to be in question.
2. Christ and the apostles said the time was near because they were mistaken, thus causing their integrity to be in question.
3. Christ and the apostles said the time was near because God misled them, thus, their integrity and God's must be in question.
4. Christ and the apostles said the time was near and told the truth, thus the second coming was accomplished.
I asked him to think about these alternatives and provide me with a 5th option if he could think of one.
Before even stating our belief to the orthodox, or Catholic, these questions are very penetrating. If we present it this way, stating that we are genuinely seeking answers and possible options, and of course let them know that we are unable to find a tenable alternative to the four, then it plants a seed.
If they are insistent on discussing the resurrection nature, simply ask them (which is what I did this evening), "Is your greatest desire to be in the presence of God or to have a new, physical body with no defects?" That helps redirect their focus and emphasis. In Christ, Ward"
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
"By the way, the post card which I mentioned at the outset of this message is actually an advertisement for something called the
SOVEREIGN GRACE PRETERIST SEMINAR in San Diego, California, July 31-August 1, 1998 and the address for those with questions is
KINGDOM OF SOVEREIGN GRACE in Sacramento, California." (Preposterous Preterism)
