PROFILE ~ IN BRIEF

Albert Frederick Suter was born in 1882 and in 1906, at the age of 24, he formed A. F. Suter & Co Ltd.

Working to develop shellac for industry, he established his own factory in the East End of London in 1927, to manufacture Bleached Shellac, which was sold around the world, under the established brand name of "Swanlac".

In the year 2000, the manufacturing activities of A. F. Suter & Co Ltd, were successfully transferred from London to Calcutta, India, the primary source of shellac supply.

Today, under the experienced guidance of Stephen Hall, who has overseen this transition, with his team and worked with Indian producers during three decades, Swanlac together with other shellacs, gums and waxes, are still being sold world wide.

Albert died the year England won the World Cup at Wembley.  Stephen is happy to wait a few more years, before England do the same again. In the meantime, he and his team look forward to being of service to you.
