Arturo Duran
Arturo Duran

CanWest MediaWorks Inc.

As President of Interactive and Business Integration at CanWest Interactive, Arturo Duran is responsible for all of CanWest MediaWorks’ internet assets which include over 37 newspapers and television websites under the umbrella of the canada.com network, Canada's number one news and information online destination, and FPinfomart.ca, the largest online news and business research service in Canada. In this role, Mr. Duran is also responsible for the multiplatform integration of diverse businesses inside CanWest Interactive.

Mr. Duran joined CanWest MediaWorks in 2004 from America Online Inc. (AOL) where he served in a number of senior executive positions in Canada, Mexico and the United States, with a particular focus on generating revenue through subscription, advertising and other revenues including through partnerships with content providers. Prior to that, Mr. Duran held senior management positions for the Polaroid Corporation in the US, China and Mexico. Mr. Duran serves on the board of the Media Awareness Network based in Ottawa (MNet).

Mario Alfano

Mario Alfano is Senior Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, for CanWest Interactive, where he recently oversaw the launch of the canada.com online network.

He brings over 20 years of consumer, B2B and online Marketing experience. Most recently, Mario served as chief Marketing officer for Xircom, Inc., a $500 million technology company based in California. Mario has worked with such premier marketing organizations as Campbell Soup, Colgate-Palmolive, Polaroid, Intel and Canon and has lived and worked in Europe, Latin America and Asia. He sits on several non-profit boards including the Italy/America Chamber of Commerce and Trade of New England.

A native of Boston, Mario completed his MBA and undergraduate studies at Cornell University and also holds a Masters in International Relations from Johns Hopkins.

Warren Cable

Warren leads a number of teams within Canwest Interactive with responsibility for FPinfomart and Licensing in the B2B realm, as well as the Real Estate and Shopping/Merchandise verticals in the Classified space.

Warren joined CWI directly from Toys"R"Us, where he held the role of General Manager for toysrus.ca. He and his team were responsible for the development and extremely successful launch of the site in 2004, as well as the e-commerce strategy of the company internationally. Prior to Toys"R"Us, Warren was the Director of Shopping and E-Commerce with AOL Canada and was responsible for the strategy and implementation of e-commerce and retail programs. Warren was also the General Manager of Chapters.ca, a leading online retailer of books, music and movies in Canada. He was part of the original launch team and was responsible for Chapters' long-term online strategy. Before being lured into the online world, Warren held progressively senior positions with The Body Shop Canada and the investment side of The Bank of Nova Scotia.

Warren earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and a Diplôme Pratique en Langue Français from the I.S.E.F. in Chambéry, France.

Mr. DeGroot joined CanWest as part of the acquisition of the Hollinger online assets in 2002 and is currently responsible for overseeing all aspects of technology related to CanWest Media Works' online business strategies.

Previously, as the head of technology for Hollinger Digital, Mr. deGroot lead the teams responsible for the creation of many electronic media properties including the original Canada.com launched in April 1998. He also served as a member of Hollinger Capital, a venture capital group focused on technology startups.

Tim Doyle is vice-president, content of CanWest Interactive and editor-in-chief of the canada.com network. He spent more than 20 years as a reporter and editor at Ontario daily newspapers, including The Whig-Standard in Kingston and The Hamilton Spectator, before moving online in 1999 as executive producer of hockey Web site Faceoff.com. Two years later he became editor-in-chief of canada.com and played a leading role in building the property into the number one news and information site used by Canadians. Doyle heads a team of editors and producers responsible for the content and production of CanWest MediaWorks' electronic newspapers and Web sites, the canada.com portal, globaltv.com and chtv.ca and the business-to-business site, FPinfomart.ca. Doyle is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Sheridan College and is a member of journalism and new media advisory boards at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario and Humber College in Toronto.

Julie Hope

Julie Hope has been Vice President, Finance and Administration for CanWest Interactive since May 2005. Julie oversee all aspects of Finance and Administration, including planning, monthly reporting, forecasting and budgeting.

Julie started with CanWest MediaWorks in 2003 as a Director of Finance. In this role she oversaw the Finance department for Fireworks, CanWest's Film and Television Production and Distribution business. Fireworks was sold in 2005.

Before joining CanWest MediaWorks, Julie was Vice President of Protocol Entertainment and was responsible for business affairs and Finance for the Company– Protocol Entertainment produced numerous television series including Goosebumps, Dear America and Animorphs.

Julie is a Chartered Accountant and worked at KPMG for 6 years.

Bianca Williamson

Bianca Williamson is the Director of Human Resources for CanWest Interactive and brings 10 years of HR experience to the role. She acts as a business partner to the team and approaches human resources with a broad perspective of Interactive's strategy, values and culture.

Prior to joining the Interactive division, Bianca worked in Human Resources for the National Post where she was responsible for employee relations and building a positive people strategy. Prior to the Post she built her HR career in the corporate travel industry working with BTI Canada.

Bianca holds a B.A. from McMaster University and a CHRM from The University of Toronto. She is currently a member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario.
