This database includes every new plant name at the rank of family, genus, species, and any ranks below the species level. Coverage includes North, South and Central America, Greenland, the West Indies and adjacent islands. You must know at least part of the scientific name to use this database.

NGA Plant NameFinder
From the National Gardening Association: "Here you will find more than 10,000 names of plants referred to in the NGA dictionary. Search for the scientific name or common name of any plant.
