Department of Linguistics

Linguistics is the general term for the science of human speech, language and communication.

The Department of Linguistics was founded in 1970 and is part of the Faculty of Arts. There are some 20 members of staff and the number of students each year is about 250 (including 25 graduate students). The Department offers undergraduate programs in General Linguistics and Phonetics and a Ph.D. program in General Linguistics.
