Ottawa is axing medicinal marijauna research
By: Katharine Kitts
The Conservatives have announced they will cut funding completely on research into medicinal marijuana. A man who depends on the drug to help him deal with HIV says that will effect people who depend on pot to help with their pain. Bradford Mcintyre has been HIV positive for almost 25 years. He says he relies on medicinal marijuanna to help with the side effects from the medication he has to take. The cocktail of pills can take away his appetite and make him feel nauseated, and he says pot makes him relax and feel hungry again. The medicinal marijuana program is among the casualties announced by the Tories as part of $1billion in spending cuts. Mcintyre says it will effect not only those who live with HIV, but also MS and other diseases. He added it's a resource that's become another alternative for those living in pain.
