"The free zones in Macedonia (August 1943)"
This map is particularly revelatory of FYROM's designs on Greek territory. The fact that Yugoslav Macedonian partisan groups for short periods of time entered the border areas of Greek Macedonia with the approval of the leaders of ELAS (Greek People's Liberation Army) entitles the editors of theses schoolbooks to present these areas, along with parts of FYROM, as "liberated". The fact that at the same time ELAS controlled large areas of mountainous territory in Greek Macedonia was not considered by the editors of these textbooks as sufficient to designate these areas as liberated, evidently because ELAS was a Greek organization.
