AOU 2007: Shooting And Porky Girls

This past week, the coin-op AOU2007 Amusement Expo stormed through Japan. Held at Chiba' Makuhari Messe, the even featured new arcade games from companies like Konami, Sega, Taito Bandai Namco and Capcom — Plus a fair share of smaller companies. While a good chunk of these games will never see Western release, a few of them very well could end up in arcades abroad or as console ports. Throughout the night, we'll be posting some more pics and a report from the event.

"its strange yet refreshing to see girls that arent impossibly small in/advertising games"

dude, that was a guy in the middle!

Weekend Note: Sad But True

To: Ash From: Flynn Subject: A little Linda Hunt never hurt anybody Well it was another thrilling weekend here in the old homestead even though it started out a little bumpy. Crecente didn't leave me a note for the weekend so I had to write one to myself and it was a little sad. There was also an arcade auction in town this weekend, but they moved to from the place that was ten minutes away to a place an hour away so I wasn't able to go.

lol, that made me really laugh out loud.. those things are great to read.

Crackdown Street Date Broken...Again!

Last week, a Kotaku reader sent in his picture of a copy of Crackdown that he purchased at his local Comp USA nearly a week before the game is supposed to hit the streets. This sort of thing seems to happen a lot at retailers where video games are not the main focus, probably because they have so much other product to deal with, that things like launch dates get lost in the mix.

How cute, has his little Valentine's box full of candy in the pic..

Rockstar Promotes Bully With New Contest

With all the Bully bruhaha behind us and the controversial game taking a backseat to newer titles, Rockstar has decided to eek out a bit more life out of it by holding a new contest. The Harrington House Fraternal Society Initiation Rites Sweepstakes (damn, that's a mouthful) is fairly simple to enter and if you are one of the five winners, you'll be the recipient of a huge package of Bully branded goodies.

I am entering the contest, I hope I win too.
Damn straight I don't play cricket either.

:)

The Horror That Is Silent Hill The Arcade

Konami's unveiling of Silent Hill The Arcade at today's AOU 2007 expo was met with confusion from Silent Hill series fans and disgust from people with working eyeballs. We'll reserve judgment on the game until we've actually played it, but the graphics? Ick. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but this game just screams ugly Wii port. Check out the seven screens in the gallery below and give us your thoughts in the comments.

"if you put the stupid comment "i need better graphics" it means you suck in real viceral games..."

hey now, I know gameplay makes the game, I don't need only eye candy, but cmon, McWhertor will back me up, right?

Cmon. Sure I don't play at arcades like I used to (I suppose nobody does), but one of the main draws to me as a kid was the awesome graphics. Asking for an arcade perfect port onto a console seemed impossible to do.
Sure, the gameplay matters, but I'm not gonna go play something that looks THAT inferior to the best consoles out now

What Are You Playing This Weekend?

It's the same old story. Playing Metroid Prime 2. Multiplayer Resistance. Must squeeze in some Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess if it kills me. I've gotta get these games finished and back on the shelf, as I expect a copy of Ratchet & Clank Size Matters to show up at my door any day now, not to mention some fairly big releases hitting throughout the week like Virtua Fighter 5 and flOw for the PLAYSTATION 3. Plus I've got that trip to EA.

Time to start on those 1500 points for that Microsoft prize stuff...
I've got Splinter Cell Double Agent to get through, people don't seem to like it.
Maybe I'll also get back on finishing Project 8. It got me mad when it reset my stats due to some, from what I hear, now fixed glitch. Haven't put it in since it did that to me.

Nothing big for me til next month... Waiting for MLB 2k7. No Guitar Hero date set yet?

Some Dork On Attack of the Show Defends The Wii

I was invited to speak on G4's Attack of the Show yesterday to discuss the current mini-backlash the Wii is receiving from spoiled gamers. Originally, I was going to offer a contradictory opinion, one a little harsher on the Wii. Due to technical difficulties my blogger competition on The Loop was nixed mere seconds before airtime, forcing me to go solo against lovely host and stand up guy Kevin Pereira (He hates the Wii! Get him!).

"5 bucks to me is nothing"

Haha, you should have left it at that. Wasn't sure if you were serious or not at first. Had you moved on from there, I'd think you were serious.
I Would have thought, what a douche. But it would have been cool.

Xbox Rewards Back Up, Extended

Looks like the Xbox Rewards program site is back up and running, following a heartfelt apology from the team at Microsoft and, we assume, some firms slaps upside the figurative head of the application servers. The good news? Your wait to register was not in vain. Says the marketing gurus of the Xbox team: To help ensure everyone who wants to participate has the opportunity, the Old Spice Experience Challenge will be extended by three days.

@coin operated boy

No, we dont get an e-mail confirmation. I never got an e-mail, but I was able to log back on the site, and confirm that I did indeed sign up for the program.
What to do from here? I don't know... It says I'm signed up for zero challenges, so I wonder if any points I get will be in vain.
I'd go look some more to find out, but the site still isn't close to stable.

Crackdown Street Date Broken

Kotaku reader Brian sends word (and photos) that his local CompUSA retailer has already started selling Crackdown. Let's let him explain: Rang up for $220 dollors but the cashier just overroad it for me. Seems funny as there is a bright orange sticker that says DO NOT SELL BEFORE 2/20/07 on it. Yep. That it does, that it does. Anyone else pick up Crackdown early?

lol that comment didn't line up with the other comment like I wanted it to.

Hmm makes me wonder if I can go get me an early copy.. Based on the comments..
CompUSA, and GameStop.
Anywhere else guys? Perhaps someone with a BestBuy story?
