Okay, so I'm not sure exactly how to differentiate between CIV, Warcraft, and Sim City, but the others seem to make sense to me. I've never heard of the others, though.
Henry Lowood, the curator of the Stanford University History of Science and Technology Collections, announced this past week a list of the 10 Most Important Video Games of All Time. This game canon has been created to preserve to cultural and historical significance of gaming.
The PS3's Home Home looks great, and when you think about it, it's a nice interface to tie elements together, and it opens up a social network. I'm more interested to see this after it's available. I'm also very much interested in costs or hidden costs. Obviously this is going to cost Sony, so they have to pay for the service somehow. Is this justification for the high price tag of the console? I still have a hard time with the initial buy-in cost.

For the week of February 26th to March 4th, the DS Lite once again came out on top. (Durr.) But, the PS3 put in a respectable showing, selling twice as many units as the week before and catching up with the Wii — Perhaps thanks to the country's top selling software Gundam Musou. Here are the full figs: DS Lite: 111, 814 unitsPSP: 66, 156 unitsWii: 57,972 unitsPS3: 44,000 unitsPS2: 15,364 unitsXbox 360: 3,379 units Hit the jump for the exciting conclusion!

Peter Molyneux is holding my business card in his hand looking down at the green and the pink and the giant K and the Otaku, and his brow is furrowed. "Oh, that site's coming along nicely." It's a little after 9 a.m. and Molyneux is standing by a desk. A nearby television is showing the back of some hero, a sword and a long rifle crossed on his back. The sound of wind and birds fills the room from the game, Fable 2.

We're at the Nintendo Shigeru Miyamoto keynote. It's starting any minute now. I just spoke with Reggie and asked him if there were going to be any fireworks during the keynote. He said "a couple." He's the second one to tell me that today's keynote isn't going to be quite as bland as people initially expected. Hit the jump to follow along.

Nothing like a conference with like-minded people to give developers a chance to let off some steam. At a little rant session today at GDC, developer Chris Hecker took it upon himself to talk about Nintendo. Oh, sorry, did I say talk? I meant hate on. Some choice excerpts: "The Wii is a piece of shit!" "[They need to] make a console that doesn't suck ass." "It's not clear to me that Nintendo gives a shit about games as an art form." Tha'ts not all.
While Super Paper Mario is sitting, right now, on the expo floor for the Game Developers Conference I can't bring myself to play it. I want to cherish that moment, not share it with a bunch of anxious strangers. Brian Crecente

03/12/07 Kotaku, historyThe 10 Most Important Video Games
Looks like each game covers the birth or the apex of a different genre:
doom: FPS
SMB3: Platformer
Zork: RPG
SimCity: Sim
Tetris: Puzzler
Civ. I & II/Warcraft: Strategy
Okay, so I'm not sure exactly how to differentiate between CIV, Warcraft, and Sim City, but the others seem to make sense to me. I've never heard of the others, though.
SWOS = apex of sports genre?

03/09/07 Kotaku, topPS3 Japan Sales Double! Wii, Xbox 360 Drop
Don't forget - the only reason the Wii is "losing" sales is because they can only sell as many as they manufacture!
I'll willing to bet the above numbers reflect the amount of Wiis distrubuted throughout Japan.

I'm reading 4 liveblogs!
Oh goodness. I don't want to get my hopes up, but... too late.

Not professional, Hecker. Whether what you're saying is true or not, Luke's right - you are embarrassing yourself.
