Biography/Notes

Los Niños de SaraLos Niños de Sara are cousins from Nimes, France, who have been playing together since they were 14 years old. Described as a cross between the Gipsy Kings and Buena Vista Social Club, the group’s blend of rhumba and flamenco music features a touch of North African influence.

After backing some of the greatest names in flamenco, including Manitas de Plata and Paco de Lucía, they formed the critically acclaimed, platinum-selling group Alabína, featuring vocalist Ishtar, which topped the World Music and Latin charts in Billboard magazine with its unique combination of flamenco music and Arabic vocals.

La Cubanita, Los Niños de Sara’s debut CD, features a blend of fiery flamenco guitars, romantic gypsy vocals, seductive melodies, and sexy Cuban grooves. Hot salsa tunes “La Cubanita” and “Vagabundo” feature Afro-Cuban rhythms and a Caribbean horn section. “El Nino Viento” showcases Cuban horns and heavily syncopated rhythms. “Santa Maria” mixes rhumba beats with flamenco rhythms. “Mizai Mizai,” a cross between a duende (lament) and a traditional ballad, highlights the Moorish roots of contemporary Spanish music with its Arabic violin. “Mi Angél,” the sole instrumental, rounds out the album. If you’re looking for romantic, sexy flamenco salsa, you will love this CD.
