V. B. Cherian to head Kerala unit of MCPI(U)

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former member of the CPI(M) State committee V. B. Cherian has been elected State secretary of the Marxist Communist Party of India (United).

A meeting of the MCPI(U) organising committee, held here on Saturday, also elected a 12-member State committee comprising M. Rajan, K. P. Viswavalsalan, K. V. Purushothaman, D. R. Pisharoty, Kadackal Sundaresan, N. Parameswaran Potty, K. R. Sadanandan, P. S. Gangadharan, T. S. Narayanan, C. K. Vijayan and P. Appukkuttan, almost all of them former local level leaders of the CPI(M).

The meeting also decided to observe December 7 as `anti-price rise day'.
