Mika for Eurovision?
Mika

Pop star Mika is considering entering Eurovision 2008 to save his home country Lebanon from more 'crap' entries.

The singer, whose top-selling debut album and single got him compared to Freddie Mercury and Scissor Sisters, said: 'I'll write a song for the Lebanese finals next year. The music in Eurovision is crap now. It used to be great.'

Mika is the latest in a string of pop stars to show an interest in Eurovision.

Former Smiths frontman Morrissey expressed an interest earlier this year, while ex-The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins and ex-East 17 singer Brian Harvey are among the acts competing to be this year's UK entry.

He'll have plenty of time to practise though – Lebanon have been banned from the competition until 2009 for refusing to show the 2005 Israeli entry on national television.

I fail to see how Mika entering Eurovision 2008 will help his home country Lebanon from more 'crap' entries.
