The idea of having your very own genie is appealing, if you ask me. With a quick rub of a bottle one could have anything their heart desires – wealth, fame, a candy factory… But something tells me that many, if given the chance, would rub their genie bottle and wish to be here on this Valley-area set for the final day of shooting for a new Jenna Jameson title, I Dream Of Jenna.
Upstairs in the make-up room, Nikita Denise chats about babies (no, she's not pregnant) as she gets her face touched up. Randy Spears arrives early for his group scene, which includes Flick Shagwell, who is decked out in a sheer purple belly-baring number, her footsteps accented with jingles all the way down the hall thanks to a musical belly chain and matching anklets. Veteran cameraman Jack Remy discusses his memories of porn's past, finishing with, "It differs from today… I don't remember everything I shoot. Sometimes it all blends together."
"You remember all of mine," Justin Sterling states with a smile as he walks past in a get-up suited to a genie, complete with stick-on soul patch.
The man wears it with dignity. I'm impressed.
I suppose I shouldn't be, though, as this is Sterling's show, and he's dedicated to the artistic integrity of the shoot. The costuming is straight out of, well, I Dream Of Jeannie, right down to the authentic pink and red Jeannie outfit that Jenna Jameson, the video's lead, gets to wear.
Or not wear, in Denise's case, as she's wandering around wearing a black bra and a leather jacket that barely covers her naked ass.
"You're one of those nudists like Randy," September, the stylist, says, gesturing to Spears. "He hates clothes."

Sterling is back in his street clothes, the soul patch now long gone. I ask him if he's ready to answer a couple questions, and he ushers me into an office.
"It's artsy, but with a really, really, really funny script," he says. "We have Steven St. Croix, Randy Spears and Jenna Jameson, which are three of the best actors in the business, I think. And they were hysterical."
As expected, the script pays homage to a certain similarly named TV show, except it picks up some time after Jameson makes a promise to serve her master, St. Croix.
"A year's time has elapsed and Jeannie is no longer the 'Oh yes, master', soft-spoken submissive Jeannie – she's now the spokeswoman for N.O.W.," Sterling explains. "One of the best lines St. Croix has in the script is, 'Two thousand years of running around in a bikini calling all your men master, and all of a sudden you're the spokeswoman for N.O.W.?'."
But the story gets even more twisted.
Says Sterling, "The conflict is Tommy and Robert are going on set to be consultants on an astronaut movie, and Jeannie really wants to go, but they won't let her. So Jenna says, well, fine, I'm gonna have my sister Katrina [played by Nikita Denise] come in. So she comes in and plants the seed of doubt that all the girls fell for the real astronauts and it gets Jeannie jealous, so they try to go down to the set to ruin everything. So Robert is walking on set and all of a sudden Jenna is the director of the movie, and everything goes haywire – people are having sex. And the whole underlying theme is that Katrina, the sister, wants to get Tommy in bed."
This being the last day of the five-day shoot, Sterling has shot the majority of the sex already. But which scene stands out the best sounds like a toss-up.
"On the first day we had Nikita Denise, Jenna, and Vivid's new contract girl, Autumn, which was great. I mean, Jenna and Nikita in a scene, and then Autumn… it was like tossing her to the wolves," Sterling enthuses. "And then yesterday it was Jenna and Jewel DeNyle. I wanted to flip flop them because Jenna's always dominant with girls, so I wanted Jewel to take over. Jewel just went to town to the point where I was asking Jenna, 'are you okay? Are you knocked out?' It was the most incredible scene.
"And then we had Jay Ashley and Aurora Snow, who did five or six anal positions. It was insane – I was watching the scene coming together, and I was going, wow! This is easy to direct! Every scene has been really good, and hot."
It sounds, though, like fans of porn – and Jameson – won't be disappointed. Sterling notes that there will be at least eight or nine sex scenes in the final product.
"This one has tons of sex," he says. "And there's lots of nasty, hardcore sex, but with really pretty girls, really nice costuming and really nice sets. This next scene is gonna be really cool. It plays with the script."
The scene in question is between Denise and St. Croix, which – in the scheme of the story – takes place while on set for the astronaut movie. Sterling takes me downstairs to see how they've decorated. The first room he takes me to is where Denise and St. Croix will fuck. It looks like a garage with stuff laying all over the place, and shiny, light-throwing mobiles hanging in various places around the space. In the center sits a chair and a metal table with a blanket over top.
We move on to other areas, like the set that is usually the bar scene. Except that the bar isn't there. "This is the opium den," Sterling tells me as he surveys workmen stapling more fabric to the wall and placing pillows on the floor. This is where the group scene with Spears and Shagwell will take place.
Back upstairs, Sterling asks Denise – now clothed in a black and burgundy version of the Jeannie outfit – and St. Croix to run through their lines, then ushers the players downstairs. They wait as the finishing touches are added to the set: some colored disco lights are turned on, making light dance around the room, and a genie bottle is placed near the doorway. Sterling tells them to get into position and do their lines for real this time. They do so once, twice, three times from varying points of view, and then it's time for St. Croix to doff his street clothes and change into something a little more, uh, comfortable.
A leopard print jockstrap, a leather hat and mirrored sunglasses.
"St. Croix, you look sassy as fuck," Sterling crows. St. Croix smiles and turns his bare ass toward Sterling in response. He then takes his position back in the garage with Denise, who is sitting on the chair in the middle of the room.
