Welcome to the Australian Shepherd Club of America

We are pleased that you inquired about the Australian Shepherd and
ASCAra.gif, parent club for this wonderful breed. On this site you will find general information about the breed and ASCAra.gif. We are very proud of this breed and our club made up of dedicated Aussie fanciers.

The Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCAra.gif) was established as the parent club for the breed in 1957 and incorporated as a non-profit corporation. Increasing interest in competition led to the development of merit programs. These programs today provide certification and titles in Stockdog, Conformation, Obedience, Tracking, and Agility as well as recognition to the top Juniors. These programs increased ASCAra.gif's role as a service organization to much more than a registry. ASCAra.gif-registered Aussies can earn titles in every phase of competition as well as entry into ASCAra.gif's Hall of Fame which is reserved for outstanding sires, dams, and kennels. ASCAra.gif has over 70 Affiliate Clubs internationally providing sanctioned shows and trials for ASCAra.gif registered Aussies.

We are proud to be the largest single breed dog registry in North America. Our organization is governed by volunteer Australian Shepherd fanciers elected by the membership and maintains a professional office staff at our central location in Bryan, Texas. ASCAra.gif provides an accurate stud book for this unique breed and offers programs in all areas where Aussies excel. ASCAra.gif is truly dedicated to preserving the Standard of Excellence.

We encourage participation and membership in our organization and offer many benefits to our members: Full ASCAra.gif membership allows a fifty percent reduction in registration fees and includes a subscription to the Aussie Times, ASCAra.gif's bi-monthly newsletter.

Announcements

The Miniature Australian Shepherd, North American Shepherd, North American Miniature Australian Shepherd, and/or Toy Australian Shepherd breeds are not recognized as a variety of Australian Shepherd by ASCAra.gif. The club considers such dogs to be a distinct and separate breed and will not accept them into its registry.

"Our bylaws state that ASCAra.gif's purpose is: 'To encourage members and breeders to accept one breed standard for the Australian Shepherd as approved by the Club as the only standard of excellence by which Australian Shepherds shall be judged.' It is the mission of this club and the mission of its members to preserve the breed rather than change it."
