Introduction

EuroPhenome is an online mouse phenotyping resource which has been developed to store phenome data derived from mice using the standardised tests contained in EMPReSS (the European Mouse Phenotyping Resource of Standardised Screens).

The first version of EuroPhenome contains pilot data which has been obtained on background strains (C57BL/6J, C3H/HeBFeJ, BALB/cByJ and 129/SvPas) by researchers working in the Eumorphia project which was funded by the European Commission.

The EuroPhenome database is a mySQL relational database and the interface is a 'data browser' which allows the user to visualise the data in a variety of ways, allowing assessment of inter-strain, -gender and -laboratory variation for the various standardized tests. Access to all the data within EuroPhenome, and to the software used to analyse and present it, is provided free and without constraints.

Development of EuroPhenome was assisted by funding from the European Commission under FP5 and FP6.
