ADMINISTRATION
JOEY SAPUTO :: President
Joey Saputo has a bachelor's degree in Economics from Concordia University. He was the founding President of the Montreal Impact in 1993, when the Saputo Group was sole owner of the team for five years. He was involved in the purchase of the club in 1999 with a group of shareholders. In 2002, he played a pivotal role in the re-launch of the club when the team became a non-profit organization. Joey Saputo also spearheads the Saputo Stadium project that will be built in the Olympic Park for the 2008 season.
NICK FILIPPONE :: Vice President Technical & Finance
Nick Filippone is one of the founding members of the Lac St. Louis Lakers, which became the best club in the history of the Club’s National Championships. He was also Quebec Soccer Federation President from 1991 to 1994, before being elected to the Executive Board of the Canadian Soccer Association from 1994 to 1999. He joined the Impact in 1999 as the club’s Director of Operations. Since December 2005, he is also Vice President of the Laval Comets, the women’s soccer team which plays in the USL’s W-League. Nick Filippone was inducted to the Quebec Elite Soccer League’s Hall of Fame, on October 29, 2006.
JOHN DI TERLIZZI :: Vice President Sales, Marketing & Operations
John Di Terlizzi is a graduate from Concordia University. He was Director of Sales with the Montreal Expos (season tickets, corporate sales and marketing) from 1993 to 2004. He also has 14 years of experience in the automobile industry, notably as Sales Manager with Ford and Honda. John Di Terlizzi joined the Impact in 2005. He instituted corporate boxes at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex and was also instrumental in the club’s three-year agreement with Radio-Canada television.
STÉPHANE BANFI :: Vice President Communications & Community Relations
Stephane Banfi participated in the Impact’s foundation and launch in 1993, and was responsible for the club’s media relations until 1997. He also worked in communications with the Montreal Police Department from 1997 to 1999. He returned with the Impact for the team’s re-launch, in 2002, as Director of Communications and was named Vice President Communications and Community Relations in 2006. He was also alpine skier Melanie Turgeon’s press officer for four years, until she retired in 2005. He studied journalism at Concordia University and also taught media relations and communications at Concordia.
VÉRONIQUE FORTIN :: Game-Day Operations & Promotions
Véronique Fortin has a bachelor’s degree in Administration from the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi in 1995. She joined the Impact in 1997 as Assistant to the Director of Operations. She has been responsible for operations and promotions with the Impact since 2000. She was also involved in speed skating during the World Championships. Before joining the Impact, she founded a sports school in Saguenay, from 1990 to 1994.
MARIETTE DENIS :: Ticket Office Manager
Having completed a degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies at the Cegep du Vieux-Montreal, Mariette Denis has 15-years experience in ticketing with the Olympic Installations Board (RIO). She was hired by the Montreal Alouettes in 1996 as Director of Ticketing and Customer Service until 2003. She was a member of the organizing committee and executive committee for the 2001 Grey Cup. Mariette Denis joined the Impact in January 2005. She is presently completing a certificate in Human Resources from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
PATRICK VALLÉE :: Media Relations
Patrick Vallée has been involved with the Impact since the 2003 season and is responsible for the Impact’s media relations since January 2005. He was previously in charge of media relations for the Laval Dynamites (2001-2004), the South Shore Soccer Association (2002-2003) and the Quebec Elite Soccer League (2004-2005). He was also a journalist for the monthly newspaper Quebec Soccer (2001-2004). Patrick Vallée obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Political Science from the University of Montreal in 2002.
CLAUDIA GERVAIS :: Communications Assistant
Claudia Gervais holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from McGill University and a graduate degree in Translation from Concordia University. After working for various years as a translator in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese, she recently worked as events and communications coordinator, and artist spokesperson for Analekta, the largest classical music label in Canada. She joined the ranks of the Impact in April 2007 as Communications Agent and will be overseeing media, web and community related projects.
ALEXIS PINARD :: Assistant Partnerships & Promotions
Alexis Pinard joined the Impact in 2003 as an intern in the Communications Department. The following season, he remained with the club as an intern, but with Game-day Operations and Promotions. Since January 2006, he has been Assistant in Partnership and Promotions. Alexis graduated in 2005 from the Arts and Technologies program, at Jonquière Cegep. He was also a radio announcer, in Jonquière, from 2002 to 2004 and was the Quebec delegate for the French Parliament for Youth, in Niger, in 2003.
GILLES PAQUIN :: Marketing Consultant
Gilles Paquin has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from McGill University, with a specialization in marketing and accounting, as well as a Law degree from Ottawa University. He is a member of various professional associations and has gathered solid business experience in contract negotiation, sales and purchasing. Throughout his career, he has been equally involved in small and large-sized enterprises, namely with Marconi, the Montreal Expos and Walker Glass. He joined the Impact in January 2007.
DANNY HILL :: Sales Representative Ticketing
Danny Hill earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing from the HEC in 2000. He was the Alouettes’ Logistic Coordinator from 2000 to 2004. He was also a member of the 2001 Grey Cup Committee and was an intern with the Montreal Expos’ special events in 1997. Danny Hill is a volunteer for the Club de la Médaille d’or since 2004 and is a missionary for the Jeux du Québec’s Montreal-Concordia delegation since 2005. He joined the Impact in February 2005.
BRIAN WEIGHTMAN :: Sales Representative Ticketing
Brian Weightman worked for the Montreal Alouettes from 1997 to 2005. He was a Customer Service Representative and Control Officer for the Ticketing Department. He also assisted in operations and events. He was also involved in the Grey Cup in 2001 and all CFL home playoff games. Brian Weightman is presently completing his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Concordia University. He joined the Impact in January 2006.
LOUISE MC LEAN :: Administrative Assistant
Louise Mc Lean joined the Impact in March 2005. On top of performing various administrative tasks at the Impact head office, she is also in charge of customer service during home games at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. Previously, Louise Mc Lean worked 15 years with Equifax Canada and also worked in customer service with Reitman’s and the National Bank of Canada.
SHAUN MCMAHON :: Multimedia Development
Shaun McMahon obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Journalism from Concordia University in 2003, and has been working as a journalist for the past seven years at 940Montreal AM radio. He joined the team this season and is responsible for the Impact webcast on USL Live. He also oversees electronic news gathering and contributes to multimedia development for the Impact fan club.
ANDRÉ "PÉPÉ" PÉRIARD :: Photographer
Pépé is the team’s official photographer since the re-launch in 2002. Photographer since 1975, he has worked for several weeklies and sports magazines in Quebec. He is also involved in Laval’s figure skating club since 1977. Pépé was also involved with the Montreal Manic in the 80’s. He participated in an impressive total of 39 Jeux du Québec Finals. Pépé has received several honours in his career, notably the Prix Claude St-Jean de la presse sportive du Québec, in 1995.
CAMILLE BACCANALE :: Statistician & Official scorer
Camille Baccanale first started as a statistician in 1977 with the defunct Sud-Ouest Royaux of the Montreal Junior Baseball League. He was involved with various junior B hockey leagues (now called Junior AAA) before joining the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey league in 1987, as statistician until 2003. He is today the league’s historian. Since 1996, Camille Baccanale is the Vice President of the largest Bantam-Midget hockey tournament in Québec, the Sud-Ouest de Montréal Tournament. He joined the Impact in March 2005 as Official Scorer and was named the Impact’s Statistician in January 2006.
ROBERT TANGUAY :: Public Announcer
Robert Tanguay started his career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Montreal Junior Canadiens in 1980. He was also announcer for the Verdun Junior (1982-1988), for the Verdun Collège Français (1988-1992), for the St-Jean Lynx (1992-1994) and the Montreal Rocket (1999-2003). He was announcer in the AAA Junior Hockey League for the Montreal Junior (1995-1999) and is still announcer for the Longueuil Collège Français. Robert Tanguay is the Impact’s official voice since the foundation of the team in 1993.
