Abrams the creator of hit TV series such as "Lost", "Alias" and "Felicity" directing. Having reduced his work commitments to teaching new recruits, IMF agent Ethan Hunt is enjoying what it's like to lead a normal life, and has fallen in love with a young woman (Michelle Monaghan) who is unaware of his occupation.

Just when he thought he was out though, an old friend (Billy Crudup) at the agency pulls him back in for a mission - rescue a former protege (Keri Russell) who is being forcibly held in Berlin by ruthless black marketeer Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman). With the help of a new team, Hunt carries out the mission but soon discovers treachery within his own agency, and the wrath of Davian who needs Hunt to steal an item for him - a biohazard weapon called a 'Rabbit's Foot'. Davian is a man unlike one he has ever faced before, a brute willing to relentlessly pressure Hunt until he submits, no matter if it means killing the one person that has made Hunt's life worth living again. From the hallowed halls of Vatican City to the rooftops of Shanghai, the mission is on...again.
