Jamie Gold is this year's WSOP Cinderella Story, showing up out of nowhere and winning the Main Event bracelet, leaving the ball with a jaw-dropping 12 million.
Jamie Gold's performance at the 2006 World Series of Poker was among the most dominant in WSOP history. As an amateur, Gold achieved the impossible at the Main Event, maintaining a chip lead from Day 4 all the way to the bracelet - a stretch that lasted a full week. This debut-of-a-lifetime resulted in an unprecedented pot, and put Gold on top of the poker world.
Formerly an A-list Hollywood agent, Gold says the transition to poker professional has been a smooth one. A member of the 500-strong contingent of Team Bodog at the 2006 WSOP, Gold plays close to 40 hours a week in Los Angeles-area card rooms and on the Bodog Poker tables. Gold also attributes his dominant performance at WSOP to what he describes as his ability to read others and react to their style of play.
"My greatest skill is reading other players. I lose small pots to anybody so I can get information, and then I'll take all their chips in a big pot."
