Siena sell to new investors
Saturday 3 March, 2007

Siena President Paolo De Luca is finalising talks to sell the club to a conglomerate of Tuscan businessmen.

The De Luca Group is expected to hand over 96.25 per cent of its shares by the end of March to the CredSec Spa in a deal brokered by lawyer Giovanni Lombardi Stronati.

He is already the President of Valle del Giovenco, a Serie D side in the Abruzzo region, and will be joined at Siena by his Vice-President Emiliano Angeloni.

“We have signed the letter of intent,” declared Stronati. “There is full agreement on all the terms. We’re satisfied, as it was our objective to complete the buy-out of Siena Calcio.”

The cost of the operation has not yet been revealed, but he will be joined in this adventure by a group of local businessmen.

“I don’t know Siena very well, but my colleagues who represent 20 per cent of the share are very close to this city. The name of the new President will be picked among these figures.”

Neapolitan businessman De Luca has been a legendary figure in the Siena history books. He took over from Giambattista Pastorello in 2001-02 and a year later helped the club to its first ever promotion into Serie A.

“As a director of sport, I can only be happy to hear this news,” said Giorgio Perinetti. “We are grateful to De Luca for all he has done for Siena and at the same time are satisfied the issue has been sorted out so quickly.”
