NBA Comparison - Jonathan Bender
Strengths: One of the top prospects of Puerto Rico. This 16 year old small
forward can handle the basketball with ease and posesses a very good three
point shot, especially when he is set. It's not rare to see him play the
point for his High School team in Puerto Rico, were he played with fellow
NBA prospect Peter John Ramos. Moves very well, although he can be considered
an average athlete. Solid basketball fundamentals.
Weaknesses: Doesn't like physical play. Needs to add more than 20 pounds
to gain the neccesary strenght to play at a higher level. Too pasive in
the offensive end and normally doesn't score off the dribble. Not a very
good rebounder, just doesn't like to get dirty down low. Needs to add
more variety to his offensive arsenal so that he can maximize his size.
His atheletic ability is average. He won't jump over anyone or go strong
to the hole to finish a play.
-Herminio Nieves -- 4/27/04
The top prospect from Puerto Rico. A good athlete with developing skills.
One of the top players in his age group in the world but must keep developing
to stay there. Skinny big man with good fluidity. Runs the floor well
enough for a small forward. Can really shoot the ball. His scoring ability
is innate. Extremely skinny right now, but will have time to bulk up as
he's born in 87. One of the top big men prospects from Latin America.
Was scheduled to play at Bloomington South High School in Indiana but
a family member was ill and his parents decided against going.
