The Royals have offered scholarships to seven youngsters this summer.
All the boys are currently at school, and are set to join the Club full time in the summer.
Assistant Academy Manager Nas Bashir spoke to our official matchday programme recently and gave background info on each of the boys.
Kelvin Bossman - "Kelvin has been with us for five years. A quick striker who scores goals and has represented Ghana at under 17 level."
Mitchell Bryant - "We are delighted to have secured the signature of Mitchell. A pacy striker, he is good on the ball and deadly in front of goal."
Jahson Downes - "Jahson is completing his fifth year in our Academy set-up. He started playing with the Elite Centre on a Friday night and has since moved on to earn a full contract at the Academy. A strong, powerful striker."
Gary Frewen - "Gary has also been with us for two years and was recruited from Ireland. A quick, tricky winger who possesses an excellent left foot."
Thomas Lyskov - "Thomas has been at the Academy for seven years. A left-sided defender who reads the game well and is technically good on the ball."
Clovis Kamdjo [pictured above] - "Clovis is only in his second year with us but is a no-nonsense centre half with good ability in the air."
Ashley Mitchell - "Ashley has been at the Club for seven years now. A tall, strong centre back who has excellent vision and good technique with the ball at his feet."
Nas continued, "At the start of every season, I study the whole squad and apply a touch of optimism in judging which players will progress and develop into future scholars. In every training session and with every game we play, the boys are being evaluated regarding their potential in achieving a professional status at our Club in the future.
"With only four training sessions a week and typically one game to see them in competitive action, it takes a lot of consideration to gauge whether these boys will be able to handle full-time training as a scholar and our selection process over the recent years has been very successful.
"Our current under 18 squad are vying for top spot in their FA Premier Academy League, and our reserves side - which a number of Academy products go on to represent - are looking for the Premier Reserve League title as well.
"Our current under 16 players are, I feel, a good selection and hopefully will add to the squad we already have and the success we've already enjoyed."
