Some parts of the south call it "country-fried", but it's beef that's been battered and fried like chicken - hence the name. Thick, succulent and topped with creamy gravy and you'll think there is no better way to gain five pounds. Drink with beer.
All the Mexican greats like tacos, enchiladas and burritos, but modified with other newbies like fajitas. Texans do enchiladas right. This isn't California style, Mex-lite. Essential to consume with cold beer or giant frozen margueritas.
Invented in Texas, the frozen marguerita -- the Adult Slurpee. With top shelf tequila, sour mix and a hint of salt around the rim of frosted glass, this is the best reprieve from the hot Texas sun. Goes great with Tex-Mex.
All those pecan trees needed to be put to use somehow! No better way than to harvest this rich nut, combine it with a heavy syrup, sugar and pie crust to create a sweet that tops all others. The pride of many dinner tables at Thanksgiving.
Bright red soda with bubblegum/ cherry flavor. Rare outside Texas - a travesty for Texans living elsewhere. Known for staining lips red. It's great served plain in a frosted mug or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Shiner Bock beer should definitely be on this list: there's no better way to wash down barbecue (which is also shockingly missing)!
