Exclusive: Grey's 2.0 Chooses its Host City!

The mystery surrounding the setting of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off has been solved — by me!!

Per one very well-placed mole, the hospital where Addison will accept her new job will be located in (drumroll, please… ) Los Angeles! That's right, Doc Montgomery's going Hollywood!

Which makes perfect sense given what else I know about the top-secret offshoot. Sources confirm that plastic surgery and psychiatry (two L.A. staples) will play as prominent roles in the show as Addison's chosen field of neonatology. In fact, according to a source who read the script for the pilot, er, I mean the "enhanced two-hour Grey's episode with a potential for afterlife," there are multiple scenes set in a shrink's office and another scene involving a pampered Beverly Hills princess contemplating a chemical peel with her hot plastic surgeon (Tim Daly, perhaps?).

Oh, and my spy also points out the show takes advantage of its setting in another way. "There's sex, sex and more sex," whispers my mole. "I thought I was reading an episode of Nip/Tuck!"

OK, just to recap, here's what we currently know about Grey's 2.0:

Who: Kate Walsh, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Amy Brenneman, Chris Lowell, Merrin Dungey and Paul Addelstein.

What: Grey's Anatomy spin-off. I mean "enhanced two-hour Grey's episode with a potential for... " Oh, forget it. Grey's spin-off.

Where: Los Angeles.

When: Special two-hour May sweeps episode of Grey's "with potential... " No, I'm just not typing that again.

Why: Mo' money, natch!

Wouldn't it have made more sense for Addison to finally head home to New York? Plus it would have been an easy way to work in appearances by Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane for sweeps. Oh well.

Ausiello, have i told you lately that I love you? You are the bee's knees, man! [that's for my hippie uncle]
Here I was, grumbling about having had to sit through yet another coma-inducing meeting/training session and decided to click on your page just for the heck of it, and BAM! New info, just for me [ok, for everyone]. But still, new info! And it's good info, too. I'm looking forward to this new show. Woo hoo!

Where is Grey's filmed?
Cuase if it's L.A. then it makes sense that the spin-off will take place there.

Great scoopage! I think it makes sense! Addison needs a fresh start away from McDreamy and McSteamy, so why not LA. Maybe they can do a cross over with Nip/Tuck. Who will Amy B. be playing? I'm so glad she is back on TV and with her on-screen mother's real life brother.

All this talk of Seattle.... Anyone remember Alice's friend "Attle" on Brady Bunch? :-D

I was holding out hope that Grey's 2 would be set in Solvay, New York, but oh, well.

That is too too funny! I wonder how many reading that really got it?

Whenever Hubby and I encounter a really nasty town, we say "That would put Solvay to shame." I assume you know the stories about cats and Solvay, right?

I know you went to SU, Matt, but did you grow up in the area and/or stick around a while after college?

Ugh, another show set in LA? About plastic surgery and sex? Ugh... how cliched...

I'm ALREADY starting to get disappointed with this show and there isn't even a NAME for it yet.

Still love the cast but they couldn't do a grittier place to set against the soapy lightness of the show (assuming it is like Grey's).

Mike, you've just GOTTA find out a) the new name because Grey's 2.0's gettin' pretty old, and b)what will be the time slot??? If it's on Thursday nights, it'll be awesome, but I'll still watch on Sunday nights. I know you'll let us know as soon as YOU know! ;)
