Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy wants clear-the-air talks with the South African FA over a return to the national side.
McCarthy has stated he might return after a 15-month absence and play in the African Nations Cup qualifier against Chad on Saturday.
He remains angered at allegedly being labelled a troublemaker by a leading SAFA official and wants a retraction.
Should the situation be resolved, McCarthy is set to catch a flight to the squad's training camp in Durban from Cape Town, where he is on holiday.
He told the Cape Argus: "I miss the national set-up and miss my old friends.
"I will play for free, I do not need the money.
"Whatever I get paid for playing for Bafana I give to my family here in Cape Town.
"I just want everyone to know what SAFA said about me after the Nations Cup in Egypt."
chrisbruttig (Blackburn Rovers): "...We arent being linked with any players? I keep reading about Hughes monitoring the torres situation in case Bellamy becomes available. I actually dont think that is a realistic target as I am certain Bellamy wont return to Blackburn. I think he would love to go back to Newcastle though and they are another club being linked with him...."
