CRYPTOSAURUS
(hidden reptile)
Cryptosaurus eumerus (Seeley, 1869) is a
nomen dubium
. It is known from a
femur
and was erected as the type specimen for Cryptodraco when it was thought that
Cryptosaurus was a pre-occupied name. This is not now believed to be the
case, so Cryptodraco reverts to a junior
synonym
of Cryptosaurus. It was classified as an
ankylosaur
.
