Brighton Festival Fringe 2006


The stand-alone Brighton Fringe Festival 2006 runs from 6th to 28th May and marks the 40th anniversary of fringe activity at the Brighton Festival.

The Brighton Festival Fringe is the biggest open access, mixed arts event in England, and the second largest in the world. The festival presents a 3-week celebration of art and expression with thousands of events including; cabaret, comedy, dance, film, children's events and 128 music gigs!

 


Open to all

The Fringe exists to encourage the development and promotion of arts and entertainment activity in Brighton and the surrounding area. Anyone can apply to participate – subject to a fee - no one is invited to appear, and no artistic judgment or selection criteria are imposed.

 

 


History of the Fringe

Brighton Festival has had Fringe activity, which ran alongside the programmed Brighton Festival, since its creation in 1967. Over the years the Fringe grew significantly until 2003 when it finally developed into an independent event under the heading of Brighton Festival Fringe.
