My Op-Ed piece ran in the Los Angeles Times today.  I entitled it “The Envy of the World,” but as you know, papers select their own titles.  Unfortunately, the LAT misrepresented what is written by creating a sentence that does not appear in the article.  Note, I do not say “Liberalism is an evil ideology,” as you can read for yourself below.  So far, nearly every email follows this red herring of the LAT.  Here’s the article as submitted to the LAT.

The Envy of the World

            Christians, in politics as in evangelism, are not against people, nor against the world for whom Christ died.  We are against false ideas that hold good people captive.  Tuesday, America rejected liberalism, primarily because liberalism has been taken captive by the Left.  Since 1968, the Left has taken millions captive, and we must help those Democrats who truly want to be free to actually break free from the captivity of this evil ideology.  However, good people holding false ideas are won not by compromising with error, but by defeating that which is false with the Truth. 

            In the weeks and months to come, we will hear the voices of well-meaning people beseeching the victor to compromise with the vanquished.   This would be a mistake.  Conservatives must not compromise with the Left, but we can compromise with liberals who share our goals for a stronger America.  The Left must be defeated in the realm of ideas, just as it was on Tuesday at the ballot box.  The Left hates the ballot box and loves its courtrooms, which is why they hope to continue to advance their agenda through the courts and not the ballot box.  This must end.

            The Left bewitches with their potions and elixirs served daily in their strongholds of the Academy, Hollywood, and Old Media.   As they do, they vomit upon the morals, values, and traditions we hold sacred: God, Family, and Country.  However, as we learned Tuesday, it is clear they hold the majority of Americans, not the minority, but the majority of us, in contempt. 

            Simply, a majority of Americans have rejected John Edwards, John Kerry, and their Left because they are wrong. 

            They are wrong because there are not two Americas, there is only one America.   We are one nation under a God they reject.  We remain indivisible despite their attempts  to divide Americans through their relentless warfare against class, ethnic, and religious unity.  We still believe that liberty and justice is for all, though the Left believes that some people are incapable of liberty. 

            The messages of Tuesday are that America is united, and that we now can see clearly that it is the Left that is divided from America, and it is the Left that has been dividing America. 

            America has now resoundingly rejected the Left and its agenda.  We do not want to become European.  We do not want to become socialist.  We do not want to become secular.    We are exceptional.  We are unique.   And, we are the greatest force for Good in the world, despite what the Left, the terrorists, or the UN may claim.   It is for this reason, that we remain the last great hope in the world for liberty and freedom.  We continue to be that shining city set on a hill.  And, we fully accept the responsibility, and we are proud to be, the envy of the world.
