Damien Leith Has Biggest Seller Of The Year

by Paul Cashmere - December 27 2006

Damien Leith's 'The Winner's Journey' has rocketed in sales to have the biggest one week sales figure for 2006 and the third biggest single week figure in three years.

Leith's album sold 101,206 units last week to earn the number one spot. That brings it in behind Shannon Noll's debut in February 2004 with 131,680 units and Guy Sebastian's debut in December 2003 with 163,711 units sold.

Leith has also broken the Idol curse which hit season two winner Casey Donovan's sales of 34,036 units, season two runner-up Anthony Callea with 41,534 units and season three winner Kate DeAraugo who only managed to enter the chart at number 10 with sales of 15683.

'The Winner's Journey' in the last three weeks has had across the counter sales of 208,896 units.

Other Idol's in this week's chart are Guy Sebastian, whose 'Closer To The Sun' album sold 7832 units at No. 29 and Anthony Callea, whose 'A New Chapter' sold 5465 units at No. 45.
