ST GREGORY'S COLLEGE

 

Situated on 425 hectares, St Gregory's was founded in 1926 by the Marist Brothers as a Catholic secondary school. Today, the college provides a day and boarding school to serve the needs of students from the metropolitan, Macarthur and rural areas. The purpose of St Gregory's is to provide and promote holistic education that strives to enhance the spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural and physical potential of young people. 

 

Facilities: Library, 300 computers available to students, including 20 computers used for music, multi-purpose hall/gymnasium, 13 playing fields, Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, cricket nets, weights room.
Electives Years 7 to 10: History, Geography, Commerce, Agriculture, Design and Technology, Technics Woodwork, Sports Science, Metalwork, Farm Technology, Technical Drawing, Computing Studies, Visual Arts, Music, Drama, Italian, French, Japanese, Motivational Learning (refer gifted/talented), Sport Science.
Electives Years 11 and 12: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Senior Science, Earth and Environmental Science, Economics, Modern History, Ancient History, Legal Studies, Business Studies, Software Design and Development, Information Technology, Information Processing Technology, PD/Health/PE, Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation Studies, Religious Studies, Studies of Religion, Italian, Geography, Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Design and Technology, Industrial Technology Wood, Hospitality, Beef Cattle Management, Furnishings, Retail. VET-delivered/TAFE courses are also offered.
Sport: Students compete in Metropolitan Catholic School Association competitions in a wide range of sports. The school is very strong in rugby league, cricket, soccer, and basketball.
Extracurricular activities: Public speaking,debating, Mock Trial, Tournament of Minds, drama and musical productions, St Vincent de Paul, SRC, band, choir.
Welfare and personal development: A full-time school counsellor is available. Christian living camps and retreats are provided and students undertake voluntary community work and fundraising for charity. Work experience is arranged in Year 10 and careers nights are conducted for Years 10 to 12.
