This is Phase III of the neubauten.org website.

What is neubauten.org?

We started neubauten.org in august 2002 with Phase I in order to produce a new Einstuerzende Neubauten record independently and free of intermediates. We offered anyone willing to send us $35 a new, never to be sold in the shops, special edition Einstuerzende Neubauten CD upon completion. Over the following 12 month we broadcasted an enormous amount (I think more than 120 hours) of live streamed recording sessions, showing the band in the working process, which we invited everyone to comment on, discuss and criticize during or after the sessions. These reactions were highly valuable to us and helped us make and finish the record.

We enjoyed the experience.

We enjoyed answering questions in the forum and being in chat.

We like the fact that you watched us, and gave us not just money but also your time, interest and comments. You pushed us through the making of this record. Without you this record would not have happened.

In autum 2003 we started Phase II, which resulted in not only a CD, but also a DVD, this time available exclusively to supporters.

We toured extensively and had the chance to meet in person many of the people we conversed with online.

During the production, entitled "Grundstück" we where able to involve the supporters even further.

A show at the Palast der Republik was filmed and recorded. A choir of 100 supporters took an active part in the performance.

Aside from the initial Neubauten activities with complimentary downloads of music, the forums and chatroom, we also broadcasted fascinating solo-performances such as the first of Andrew Unruh's pieces based on the four elements: "The Air-Show".

The physical manifestations of the outcome of Phase II where finally shipped out to supporters worldwide in the end of 2005.

Again we now step forward, risking another time to fail, in our attempt to broaden the path of the new media in order to reach out to you.

That's why we are now launching:

neubauten.org PHASE III.

So what can you expect, when you join us for phase III?

Apart from the satisfaction of having helped one of the most wonderful bands on this planet to produce another wonderful album and being part of a great and vivid community of supporters,

you get:

The only complete and luxurious edition of the CD we will record in phase III, which is scheduled to last untill the end of February 2007 (However, there will also be a smaller version of this album to be released for the general public.)

Optionally, you can also receive the DVD containing filmed material of this phase (which is NOT going to be available to the public.)

Accompanying you through the year will be a series of monthly musical downloads of freshly recorded miniatures, we call "Jewels".

These 12 gem-stones will form another (digital-only) record in their own right.

Aside from these offerings we will certainly provide you with:

Webcasts of the band at work. (approximatly 10 ninety minute broadcasts on a bi-monthly basis)

A couple of video-Q and As and/or solo-performances of members of the band.

and of course your own e-mail address at neubauten.org and the ability to interact with fellow supporters and us on the website.
