Do you like Liszt?

Choral music from Central and Eastern Europe - interpreted at a high level. This is the ambitious objective of the Dutch Liszt Ferenc Chorus, a twenty-strong semi-professional chamber choir that bears Franz Liszt's name. Because, even though the public at large knows him mainly as a legendary composer for the piano, he actually also wrote choral music. And his works are frequently performed by the Liszt Ferenc Chorus both in the Netherlands and abroad, including Hungary itself. Liszt's fellow-Hungarians, Zoltán Kodály, Béla Bartók and Géza Frid, are also in good hands with the choir.

Furthermore, the choir's Hungarian-born conductor and artistic director, Peter Scholcz, is an avid treasure-hunter: compositions by Mihály Mosonyi and Johann Michael Haydn (brother), which he rediscovered in Budapest, are also included in the choir's repertoire - and on compact disc. Because the choir has to date ten CD's (seven original recordings) to its credit, including recordings for the globally issued Hungaroton label.

Do you like Liszt? Do you enjoy singing? Do you also have a trained singing voice? And are you prepared to study hard and rehearse seriously? If so, the Liszt Ferenc Chorus would be happy to hear from you, as there are a few vacancies for new members.

Or perhaps you would like to become a member of the circle of friends who give the choir financial support? Research into sources, organizing concerts and producing CDs are expensive activities! In either case, do join us - either as a singer or as a friend - by writing to:
