NEWS FLASH! October 2005 - Well, it's a done deal. A few weeks back, after numerous dialogs and careful consideration one of the major players in the bike industry purchased the patent and trademarks for the FitStik. Who? It's not my place to say; they'll announce it when they feel the time is right. When will they bring the FitStik back to market? What will it cost? When can you order? I don't know. But what I do know is this; the company is just about universally known and respected in the bike industry. The FitStik will be brought out under a brand name that you do know. The company has a sterling reputation for quality and delivering what they promise. Bottom line: well-made FitStiks will be readily available, worldwide, at a fair price, in the not distant future. Those of you who've emailed or else wise requested to be kept in the loop will be the first to know when the details are available. Meanwhile, you're welcome to continue to visit our site for tips and hints on bicycling technology, or to connect with some of the sport's top bike fitters. |

January 26, 2002: Sometime in the Spring we are moving from Eugene to Portland, Oregon. Until the move is completed, and a new production shop is set up, we are not accepting orders for FitStiks. |

From the day the FitStik was introduced we were never able to keep up with demand. So, in the summer of 2001 we started to transition to higher volume manufacturing technologies: CNC machining of components, injection molds, composite materials, you name it. But the events of 9/11 cut to the quick and forced us to reprioritize - so the expansion plans were put on hold. But cyclists kept calling; they'd read about the FitStik, heard about it from a friend or saw one in a shop, and wanted, no, needed one. So we decided to continue making FitStiks as long as circumstances permitted. This led to what was arguably the best FitStik we ever made, The FitStik Pro. The main sticks were crafted of fine hardwoods, hand-selected for beauty, stability and strength, then machined and finished to perfection. Coupled with machined fittings and injection molded mating parts, the result was pro-quality tools that were as beautiful as they were accurate. Cyclists, coaches and shops around the world already know the FitStik is like a "truing stand" for riding position. If you're serious about bike fit it's one tool you shouldn't be without. |
