The Chicago Tribune building, at the corner of Dearborn and Madison Streets, was another one of those "fireproof" buildings. It survived the first wave of the fire, but not the second... (The "before" picture was taken from a drawing in Harper's Weekly, October 28, 1871) For a while after the fire, the Tribune employees worked out of the same building (at 15 and 17 South Canal Street) as those of the Chicago Evening Journal. ..............................
