Uzel buys 51 percent of Ursus

  Uzel Makina Sanayi, which makes tractors under license from Massey Ferguson, bought 51 percent of Polish tractor manufacturer Ursus to expand in the country. The Turkish company plans to increase Ursus's capacity to 10,000 tractors. Uzel didn't say how much it paid for the stake. Uzel plans to invest 75 million zloty ($27.3 million) in Ursus, Rzeczpospolita reported earlier today.

Agusta wins helicopter deal

  Finmeccanica SpA's AgustaWestland unit won a contract worth 1.2 billion euros ($1.7 billion) to supply helicopters to Turkey's military, Il Sole-24 Ore reported, citing the Turkish defense ministry Web site. The unit will supply 51 A-129 helicopters to Turkish ground forces. Agusta may also take part in a tender to supply the U.S. military with 141 “combat search and rescue” helicopters in a contract worth $15 billion, the newspaper said.
