Warnock: Overlooked by England

Warnock puts club over country

Defender Stephen Warnock is looking forward to producing the goods for Blackburn next season having been overlooked for England duty.

With Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole ruled out by injury, Reading's Nicky Shorey was handed his debut in the 1-1 draw with Brazil at Wembley on Friday although Wayne Bridge returned for the 3-0 win in Estonia.

Warnock told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Obviously they had the B squad and I was overlooked for that so I'm just focused on doing well for Blackburn next season. If that's not good enough then so be it. There's nothing I can do about it.

"As long as the manager here is happy with me, that's all that matters. So hopefully I can come back after the summer and play well for Blackburn."
