This is the third time Watson has signed with Vancouver. He was an APSL First Team All Star in 1993 with Vancouver, despite playing just 10 games before leaving mid-season to join Watford. He returned to Vancouver late in the 1995 season, and played nine games.

North America:

 

A five-time All Star and a former A-League Defender of the Year, Watson has played over 200 games in North American professional soccer, as well as numerous seasons in Europe. He is also the second most capped player in Canadian national team history.

 

The 34-year-old played the last three seasons with the Charleston Battery, where he was the A-League Defender of the Year and First Team All League in 2002. Last season, he was Second Team All League with Charleston. Watson has also played two seasons in MLS, in 1996 with the Columbus Crew and New England Revolution, and in 2001 with DC United.

National Team:

 

In an international career that spans 14 years, Watson has played 77 times for Canada and scored three goals. He is surpassed only by defender Randy Samuel who retired with 82 caps. Watson played a major role in Canada's historic Gold Cup championship in 2000 as he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the Semi-Finals.

 

He made his international debut for Canada in the 1991 Gold Cup against Honduras at the age of 20. His most recent appearance was October 13, 2004 against Costa Rica in World Cup Qualifying.

Overseas:

Watson has played professionally in
Europe spanning seven seasons, with two seasons each spent with Watford of the England First Division (1993-95), Oxford United of the Second Division (1999-2000), and Osters of the Swedish First Division (1997-1999). His most recent European team was Oldham Athletic of the English Second Division (2000), where he was a team-mate of now Whitecaps striker Carlo Corazzin
