Tonight, on Channel 4 (UK) at 00.40am, the team from Clash Magazine are featured in the SXSW documentary.
The hour long programme, which follows Transmission, covers this year’s Texan festival with contributions from those in attendance, those performing, and those putting on events.
The contribution by the Clash team was filmed at Karma Lounge on West 8th Street, just prior to the doors opening of our highly successful event, which featured live performances from Plan B, Errors, The Rumble Strips, Jack Penate, Fujiya & Miyagi, The Sunshine Underground and The Holloways.
Well, although i’ve yet to hear from them, the Clash team should be safely back on British soil after their 15 hour flight back from Austin.
As soon as the jetlag/hangovers wear off they should be popping by to regale us with their take on SXSW and how they’ve discovered the next big thing (hopefully).
So, i thought this’d be a perfect time to ask if any of our readers made the trip too? If you did, let us know how it went and share your highlights with us all (the Clash party is a given).
Given Clash’s affiliation with the Deisel-U-Music competition, it felt only right to turn up to their party at the Saengerrunde Hall and drink their beer.
Oh and while we were there we saw Illinois, they had a banjo.
And were very good!
One of the hottest tickets in town was the Kings of Leon at Stubbs Bar & BBQ. Performing material from their superb new album, Clash was there to capture the event.
As well as our own Club night, the team also did their best to sample the other acts playing around town. Here’s some pics and video of Cold War Kids at Maggie Maes on 6th St from Friday night.
Now we’re just boasting…
Further delights from Thursday night’s Clash Club at the Karma Lounge. The Rumble Strips tear it up. (further clips to follow once i work out how to rotate the footage!)
You’ll know by now but keep an eye on that volume button
Clash Club @ the Karma Lounge, Austin, Texas 15th March
Well Simon has fought off his hangover long enough to send some pics from the rockin’ Clash Club in Austin last night.
A huge success featuring the cream of new UK talent including The Holloways, The Sunshine Underground, Jack Penate, The KBC, Fujiya and Miyagi and the Errors!
Man we spoilt those Yanks!
So onto the Snaps….
First up a quick trip to our friends Transgressive Record’s party at the Blender Bar,
6th Street on Thursday night to watch Foals.
