About Illini Media Company

The University of Illinois campus is a diverse community of students, faculty and staff involved in academics, research, athletics, fine arts and entertainment. Nestled between Champaign and Urbana, the University campus has its own health center, its own power plant and even its own mail system. And like any large community, the University needs its own media to provide news, information, entertainment and a record of the people and events that make up this constantly evolving campus.

The Illini Media Company, a non-profit corporation chartered by the State of Illinois in 1911, has been the heart of communication for students at the University of Illinois for 90 years. Operating The Daily Illini, WPGU-FM, the Illio yearbook and the Technograph engineering magazine, the Illini Media Company offers students a wide range of opportunities working in media, and offers student groups and local businesses some great ways to get their message heard.

In addition to the job opportunities Illini Media has for students, the company offers scholarships for minority students, sponsors a career fair each spring that is open to all students, and gives undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members the unique opportunity to sit on its board of directors.

Any University of Illinois student can become involved with the Illini Media Company and its units. It's a great way to gain valuable skills while adding to the educational experience at the University.
