PAUL STANLEY Hospitalized Prior To California Gig; KISS Performs As Three-Piece - July 28, 2007
Paul Stanley was unable to perform at KISS's show earlier tonight (Friday, July 27) in San Jacinto, CA. According to unconfirmed reports, he was sent to a local hospital after it was determined that his heart was beating at 200 beats per minute and he was given a shot in an attempt to slow it down. Stanley did perform at the soundcheck this afternoon around 6:00 p.m. PST. Gene Simmons carried the show and KISS played as a three-piece with fans joining them onstage early in the set to fill in for Paul. The final setlist was as follows:

01. Deuce
02. Cold Gin
03. Calling Dr. Love
04. (Long Pause) Christeen Sixteen
05. Nothin' to Lose (w/ Eric Singer on vocals)
06. I Love it Loud
07. Goin' Blind
08. Watchin' You
09. She
10. Parasite
11. God of Thunder
12. Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll
13. Black Diamond (w/ Eric Singer on vocals)
14. Rock and Roll All Night

Wow, I really hope Paul is OK. Being rushed to the hospital doesn't sound good.

At least this time around they were able to play a setlist that is all Gene songs. Back in '92 when Paul couldn't sing but could still play, Gene couldn't remember any of the lyrics to Paul's songs.

While this totally sucks, I'd kill to be at this show!!

Play UNHOLY!!!

until Gene decides "hey, I guess I can do this on my own, fuck Paul, now I'll get ALL of the money!"

I do hope Paul is ok.

That having been said, I must add that post-Ace KISS is no more than a very authentic KISS tribute band. I'll pass.

Kiss went down hill after Peter and Ace left. I'm not saying they didn't have a good song or two afterwards but those albums never compared to the ones with Ace. Now all we have is a guy dressed in his makeup playing dress up. Sad days for KISS

My wife and I walked into the arena (a shitty one at that) just when gene came out on stage to announce that Paul had been rushed to the hospital because Paul was experiencing a heart problem: 200 beats per minute. Gene then asked the audience if they wanted to have the show canceled or for the band to play on as a three piece. The overwhelming reaction was to play.

The band did pretty good as a three piece, but you could tell that the sound just wasn't the same. You could also tell that they were trying hard. The band was completely flying by it's pants and it was apparent. The show had a great potential to be a trainwreck and it almost happened a couple of times, especially when they brought ten people (five girls and five guys. but there were more than five girls onstage) up to help sing Christine Sixteen. The women were an absolute embarassment, especially the one in the pink top and silver sparkling boots. What an idiot!

If anything, this was a historic concert and I was glad to have been there.

Oh yeah: the traffic at Soboba Casino absolutely SUCKS!

You can tell that Paul is clearly the mouthpiece for the band. Gene Simmons has no onstage rapport with the fans at all.

It all had to do with the heart. If my heart started beating 200 BPM's. hell, O would have throat problems also. Another thing about his hip replacement surgeries, is that he has stated that he's a veggietarian. Your bodie NEEDS protein, the kind from meat to hold it together, so he probably ate a hamburger which is body isn't use to (per doctors orders) and his heart started racing cause it wasn't use to it...yea, thats it hehehehehe

i hope paul gets well.from around '88 or so all the way until '97 or so you couldn't find a bigger fan than me.i saw the reunion and i saw one of eric carr's last concerts.i collected everything with the kiss logo on it.i was in my early twenties when i sold the collection for a fraction of what it was was fun but i moved on.i still listen to em from time to time but i'm not crazy over it like i was in my teen years.if they do lose paul in the live setting i do think people will still go see the band.they already do with an ace and peter imposter.i thought for a heartbeat they might take the makeup back off to preserve the image and keep it fresh but they just keep touring and now a lot of people have already seen it.if i was gene i'd let it rest a while and let paul rest too.he deserves it.

Paul's days performing with kiss are indeed numbered. So are Gene's. Has anybody read the Kiss Experience article that was posted here a day or two ago? Kiss is creating their own "Officially licenced" cover band to tour under the name The Kiss Experience. They are currently searching for ringers to play each member. This is what they have been talking about for a few years now when discussing the future of Kiss beyond their playing days. If this is successful, they will sit at home and get paid while someone else does all the touring.

Hell, last time KISS was a three piece was when Ace was a no show for a TV event (don't remember the name of the show) to promote THE ELDER.

It would of been best to cancell and reschedule.

Hopefuly all is well for Paul and his family.

True, Paul is a better than Gene. Not selfish.

Plus, with it said earlier on this post about The KISS Experience, hell, I'd rather see tribute bands than this experiment. MR. SPEED (Cleveland) and BLACK DIAMOND GIRLS (Cincinnati) put on pretty good shows and that is good enough for my KISS fix.

...Paul has a "weak assed voice" at all. And IF he did-- it would be due to about 2 to 3 hundred dates a year for 33 years. And about the other-- the show must always go on. Come to think of it-- it might be a bit humorous if ALL of the members of KISS took ill, and there was nothing but explosions, and stuff-- with feedback and an empty set of drums. With NO ONE onstage. :)

I was there last night...I have to say, it was disappointing not having Paul there. The show was great-though there was a somber tone.

Here's the one cool thing. Over the years, critics and people alike never really saw KISS as a viable band of musicians. No, they're not the greatest at their individual instruments, but they are a great band. Last night, you got to see that in action. They had to improvise and go out there and just jam for the fans. They pulled it off even though I'm sure their minds were elsewhere. They showed, again, that they are so much more than just theatrics, costumes, and flashing lights.

semyaza, that lady in the pink was a total FREAK!!!!! lol and what was telling us her and her son's zodiac sign all about??? LMAO

posted by : semyaza

She was talking about the zodiac signs because of the KISS song "C'mon And Love Me", where Paul sings: "She's a dancer, a romancer I'm a Capricorn and she's a Cancer. She saw my picture in a music magazine."

I thought it was funny how she stayed on stage after everyone else left and when she walked up to Gene, he said "Yes dear. I know: you're a Capricorn and your son's a Cancer." and then security came out to take her off stage! LOL

And she got booed off the stage....that woman was interesting....

I was squished between people and the Gene and Tommy were only five or six feet was pretty amazing, I think they did a good job pulling it off without Paul...they seemed a little unfocused at times....but that was a great concert...
