It's Official: Former DAMAGEPLAN Bassist Joins HELLYEAH - May 15, 2007
Former DAMAGEPLAN bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha has officially replaced Jerry Montano in HELLYEAH for the band's upcoming tour dates, HELLYEAH's publicist has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

Although no explanation was given for Jerry Montano's departure, the group's publicist told Headbangers Ball Blog last month that "personal reasons on both sides" caused him to leave.

HELLYEAH drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott, who played with Bob Zilla in DAMAGEPLAN alongside Vinnie's late brother "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, told MTV in January, "I told Bob after [Dimebag was murdered] that no matter what happens, I'm gonna find a way to play in a band with him again because me and him are just bros. It was kind hard to go ahead and commit to this band without Bob being part of it, but since Jerry was the bass player it was already set in place. And Bob's been really cool and understanding. And he's doing his tattoo shop in Texas right now. At some point in the future, we'll probably play together again."

HELLYEAH will launch the "Fire It Up" tour on May 20 in Baltimore before making its way to England for an appearance at this year's Download festival.

HELLYEAH will take part in this summer's Family Values Tour. Also taking part in the trek are EVANESCENCE, ATREYU, TRIVIUM and FLYLEAF, alongside headliners KORN.

HELLYEAH's self-titled debut album sold just under 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

A three-minute clip featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of HELLYEAH's "You Wouldn't Know" video has been posted at YouTube. The clip was shot on February 25, 2007 with director Nathan Cox in the parking lot of the Dallas, Texas stripclub owned by Vinnie Paul Abbott. The finished "You Wouldn't Know" video is available for viewing at this location.

Sorry to ask this but I'm currently in Kuwait and streaming media combined with our Internet isn't a good mix - I haven't heard anything by these guys yet.

I loved Pantera and Damageplan (in fact I was there the night Dimebag was shot) but didn't care so much for the Rebel Meets Rebel. What do these guys sound like? Are they anything like these other bands?

REBEL MEETS REBEL is awesome

but as for HELLYEAH...its OK the one "hellyeah" song I didn't like, but the other single had some real cool drum parts

its pretty cool that VIN is out there again....he's a great drummer

but this band doesn't od much for me....
I still would like to see them play on a festival show so I can see em live

Cool band. Singer is the guy from Mudvayne, who I always thought was cooler than his band. More like Damageplan than Pantera, but that's not really a fair comparison. Good, heacy, driving, groove metal. You know the drums, and now the voice, The guitars ain't Dimebag heavy, but it's not Mudvayne, either! High energy, should be a great live band!

Stay safe in Kuwait - Can't imagine you'll find the new CD there...

Hell Yeah sound pretty cool but Damageplan was better on every level, starting with Dime and ending with Lachman's vocals.

I dig the whole Southern vibe but the vocals on the Rebel Meets Rebel thing are god awful - what were Dime and Vinnie thinking?!

Sad to see Jerry leave, definitely a solid player. Never had the chance to see him play live, but Bobzilla is without a doubt the perfect person to step in. Damageplan slayed live! I'd love to see what Hellyeah is capable of.

PANTERA CFH - RTS ARE CLSSICS. DAMAGE PLAN WAS NOT WORTH .01% OF THE HYPE AND HELLYEAH IS WORTH ABOUT .00000000001% THE HYPE. HOW BORING! REBEL MEETS REBEL SH1TS ALL OVER THIS PICE OF SHIT WHICH PLAYS IT SAFE FOR THE KIDDIES SO THEY CAN CASH IN WITH THEIR SOPHMORIC BEASTY BOYS OF METAL 'FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY' ATTITUDES. TTHIS IS THE WORST CD VINNIE PUT OUT SINCE BEFORE PANTERA'S POWER METAL.

I appreciat the offer, YourMother'sBastardChild, but I'm not really hurting for music out here. Amazon and The End Records do an excellent job of shipping to me - I've been able to keep up on new releases since I got here and my ipod is up to 11,256 songs so I'm pretty set. I only have 3 more months to go anyway.

Besides, I really don't wanna post my email address in a public forum like this - I can only imagine the hate/love mail I'd get.

Thanks, nonetheless.

ryan from mudvayne or rex from pantera should've done bass..or to really suprise everyone : Les Claypool. he would've brought HellYeah to a whole new level..if you can't have a 5-star guitarist *Dime* than why not get a 5-star bassist such as Les?
