On January 17, 2002 the Government of Finland arrived at a positive Decision-in-Principle on the application made by Teollisuuden Voima Oy company regarding the construction of one more nuclear power plant which was approved by the Finnish Parliament on May 24, 2002.

In compliance with this Decision-in-Principle it is planned to construct one power unit of 1000 1600MW. NPP construction bid will be announced by the end of 2002. The construction is scheduled to start not later than 2005.

JSC Atomstroyexport with participation of the Russian companies equipment manufacturers and designers will submit bid documents for NPP 91/99 design developed for the conditions of Finland, which received positive opinion of the Finnish Safety Authorities. Presently, the similar design is being implemented at Tianwan NPP in China.

For new NPP construction implementation in Finland JSC Atomstroyexport plans to invite a number of European and Finnish companies, the share of which in the Project, by preliminary estimate, will cover more than 50% of the Project cost.
