Vendetta
It's again a story of personal vendetta extended to a larger social cause. When some anti-social elements are killed, the cops set out on the trail of
the killer. And when some eye-witnesses report seeing a man dressed in the garb of Lord Rama at the scene of the crime the police are intrigued.
Their search leads them to Siva alias Alwar, the attendant in the mortuary at a hospital.

The debutant director (apprenticed under director S J
Suriya) seems to have taken some tips from
'Anniyan'. While the wronged Anniyan had the 'seven' cardinal sins and their
respective punishments or rather the old Hindu religious texts on crime and punishment to fall back on, Alwar has mythology and Lord Vishnu's
'Dasavatharam' to get inspired by.
Alwar too is a simple youth from a Brahmin background, a priest at a temple. The preachings of a swamiji instills in him a sense of the divinity of man,
and his responsibilty to take up the cause of humans in distress. 'Naan Kadavul' is his constant refrain as he kills each offender. Alwar's refusal to toe
the line set by the unscrupulous Punyamurthy (Lal), the trustee of the temple, results in Alwar's mother and sister being killed.
Alwar is presumed dead till he surfaces as Siva. Taking his mission seriously, Alwar
dons the garb of Rama and Krishna as he goes on his killing spree. And then it's the Narasimha avatar as he goes for the final kill of
Punyamurthy. Gaining inhuman strength, he gloats as he rips the insides of his victim. We get to see just three of the 'avatars', the rest would have been a bit too
difficult to portray on screen!
The songs are well picturised, but it's like the director has thrust them in the narration as and when he remembered them. Vivek comedy is a wasted
one. Asin looks gorgeous, only her roles and mannerisms are becoming a bit too predictable.
With an absurd script, insipid narration, and with neither the role nor the performance working out here for him, it's like Ajith has lost whatever
ground he'd gained with his splendid performance in 'Varalaru'.
