Encouraging results for New Party candidates

New Party candidates standing in local elections across England have achieved a very encouraging set of results.

Stewart Dimmock, standing as a New Party candidate for the second time,  in the Town and Pier Ward of Dover District Council, finished fourth with over 10% of the total vote.

Alan Booth in Hunstanton Ward, West Norfolk, received 480 votes and beat one of the Labour Party candidates standing for election, although Conservative candidates won all three council seats for the ward.

Colin Denby finished third in Chorley North East ward of Chorley Borough Council with nearly 15% of votes cast.

David Pinder, standing for the second time in Mirfield Ward, Kirklees, once again beat the Liberal Democrat and Green candidates to finish fourth, with over 6% of the vote.

Martyn Elliott, standing in the Norton Canes ward of Cannock Chase District Council, gained nearly 7% of the vote, finishing fourth in the ward.

Paul Fairchild, standing for the second time in Bury Green, Broxbourne District Council, aLso finished fourth with just over 5% of the vote.

We thank and congratulate all those New Party candidates, and also other independent candidates across the country who have received New Party support in these elections.  We note that no New Party candidate failed to reach five percent of the vote (the figure required to save a deposit in a general election - although deposits are not required in local elections), and furthermore that two of our six district council candidates beat candidates from one of the three main parties.  We look forward to fielding many more candidates and building up more support throughout the country in years to come.
