About Our Name
Avery Fisher was an inventor and founder of the consumer electronics company, Fisher Electronics. His generous contribution to NYU has helped to make the Avery Fisher Center for Music & Media one of the largest academic media centers in the world. Avery Fisher Hall (the home of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra) at New York's Lincoln Center is also named after him.
