Chicago Icon Mike Ditka Joins CBS 2 Chicago

Former Chicago Bears player, coach, Hall of Famer and sportscaster Mike Ditka joins CBS 2 CHICAGO this fall as sports contributor on the 10:00 PM News, alongside Mark Malone, it was announced today by CBS 2 CHICAGO. Ditka, whose success and fame both on and off the football field made him a Chicago icon, will begin work at the station at the start of the NFL pre-season.

"What a day this is for CBS 2," said Joe Ahern, President/General Manager of the station. "To have the legendary Mike Ditka join this team means that more and more people will be turning to CBS 2 this fall."

Beginning this fall, Ditka will join Malone every Friday night at 10:00 PM to preview the upcoming Chicago Bears game. Theyíll discuss the players, break down the statistics, analyze the opposing team and cover the headlines surrounding the game.

"Mike Ditkaís intensity and passion for the game is contagious," said Carol Fowler, Vice President/News Director for the station. "The pairing of two football greats, Mark and Mike, will make CBS 2 the place for the most in-depth, comprehensive pre-game Bears analysis in Chicago."

Ditka will continue to contribute to WSCR-AM/The Score, an Infinity-owned station.

"To Bears fans, Ditka remains Da Coach," said Malone. "I expect Mike Ditka to bring candor and humor, along with his unique insight on the Bears to CBS 2 viewers."

"Iím excited about it," said Ditka. "I love the Bears. I love football. Iím talking about the game to make the fan understand what the coaching staff is trying to do."
