It’s wet down there

Posted by Brian w Jessie and Tootsie on October 6th, 2007

As you can see it’s wetter than ever at the AirportDogPark.  Yesterday & today I gathered 4 bags of garbage while enjoying doggie time at the park.  I removed almost everything from the fence (tie wires, zip ties, water soaked notices)  I did leave the notices (looking a little water logged), poop bag holder,  keys, and a […]

Jet Fuel in Marsh Water?

Posted by phruden on September 28th, 2007

My dog ran down to the marsh yesterday and started lapping up water.  I was told that the airlines dump jet fuel into this water.   Does that mean there is significant jet fuel in the ground/woods as well?  I have concerns about bringing my dog to this park now.

Bring a towel

That’s my advice…it’s pretty puddly out there right now. Ziggy found her way into a few puddles tonight. Good thing I had an old blanket in the trunk, or my backseat would’ve been black!

At the park last evening I met a beautiful 11-year-old Rottie with a permanent limp. Her owner told me that her dog was injured at the airport dog park last year when she ran across a hole and twisted her foreleg in it, tearing a tendon. Because of her age, the veterinarians did not recommend […]

Toxic Debris

Posted by Devon & Chaz on July 12th, 2007

Some nimrod was shooting fireworks off at the dog park recently and didn’t pick up after himself. I found a roman candle tube still packed with gunpowder, which would probably smell pretty yummy to some dogs.
Please be extra careful about what your dog may be sniffing and about to eat. And if you see any […]

Week of June 17

The park appears dry (almost crispy), but beware the storm drain by the end of the runway. There’s 6-8 inches of standing water in the ditch. My retriever plopped down into it, which was predictable, but he also drank some and it made him puke.
Your dog, of course, might be smarter…

Week of June 10

All dry and clear. No trace left of the recent rains, as it’s been so hot. I haven’t ventured back on the nature trail since it got overgrown, due to the ticks. If anyone wants to report on conditions back there, please feel free.

Alan, who comes to the park with his Rhodesian Ridgeback, Tandi, says he ventured along the edge of the marsh on the nature trail the other day and later had to pick three ticks off himself.
So, this is just a reminder that we are well into tick season now, especially with all the wet weather. […]

Week of May 20

Posted by Devon & Chaz on May 26th, 2007

Overall, the grounds are in great condition. The recent rains have left very few wet areas–just a small puddle by the main gate and another one by the marsh at the end of the runway. Unless we get more rain over the weekend, I expect they’ll both be gone soon.
The grass is lush and thick, […]

Week of May 7

Posted by Devon & Chaz on May 8th, 2007

Last week, I managed to circumnavigate the park during a couple of visits without Chaz running into the marsh, so I had high hopes that a trip to the dog park wouldn’t necessarily mean a bath afterward.
But this is Chaz we’re talking about.
We were past the danger zone–the south end of the marsh where a […]
