STOP the Republican "Steal the State" Plot

With their latest initiative scheme, Republicans should just go ahead and make their motto: "If you can't beat 'em … Cheat!"

Republicans did the math and figured out that they could steal a presidential victory by taking 22 electoral votes from California.

ALL of a state's electoral votes are given to the presidential candidate who wins the state.  In the last four elections, California's 55 electoral votes have gone to the Democratic nominee.

Knowing this, Republicans are trying to gather 433,971 signatures to put a statewide initiative on the June 2008 ballot to change the rules and steal 22 of California's 55 electoral votes - splitting up California's vote and almost ensuring that Republicans take the White House.

The media is not falling for the Republican's plot. There are already over 14 editorials against the initiative.

We need real electoral college reform on a national level - not a piecemeal, state-by-state approach that gives the Republicans a clear partisan advantage.
