Obie Trice Speaks: "Bullets Part Of Life In Detroit"

Obie Trice is recovering at home in Detroit after being treated and released following a shooting on New Year's Eve.

The Shady records rapper was shot in the early morning hours of December 31 while driving with his girlfriend. Despite being struck in the head by a bullet, Trice was able to successfully maneuver the vehicle and flag down help.

He was treated and released at Detroit's Providence Hospital the same day. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to remove the bullet lodged in his skull because they concluded its position made surgery too risky.

Trice spoke about the shooting via statement explaining, "This is living in Detroit, and that's all. You hear about it because it's me. I got ties to Eminem or whatever, but I got people that are out there dealing with every single day where I'm from."

Sources had speculated that the shooting might have been an incident of road rage, but in his statement Trice would not address that possibility.

"As far as rumors and guessing games, people talking road rage and all that nonsense, I'm not getting involved in any of that right now," Trice concluded.

In the coming days after Trice undergoes further medical evaluation, doctors will determine whether the bullet can be removed or not.

In 2003, Trice released his debut album, Cheers, which has sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide. His sophomore effort, Second Round's On Me, is scheduled to be released this spring.
